Anecdote

Delia was the second child of Louis J. and Celima La Faive born June 27, 1898 in Grand Marais, Michigan. Delia was the only child of the family that graduated from high school in Burton Township, Grand Marais. Graduation year was 1916 at which time she enrolled in Marquette normal college in Marquette Michigan and in one year she obtained a teaching certificate where upon she obtained an elementary school teaching position in Rexton, Michigan for a one year period. In the spring of 1918 Delia joined her family in the Detroit Area.
Delia obtained employment in Detroit at Acme White Lead Paint Works, a paint supply company as a clerk/stenographer until 1919 when she married Albert Lassen a Detroit native.
During their marriage together, Albert and Delia had two children, a son William Al Lassen and one daughter, Shirley.
The son, had a family of four, one son and three daughters. Shirley had no children of her own during her marriage to Donald Doetsch but they eventually adopted two daughters and two sons.
Albert Lassen began his employment as a toolmaker for Ford Motor Car Co. and other tool companies in Detroit, but eventually became a bar owner on the east side of Detroit at various locations and under various names. The bar of the longest duration was known as Whitey's Tavern and was situated on Cadieux Avenue near Harper on the East Side. The original bar sat adjacent to the overpass on the south side of Cadieux and I94, but was relocated when the expressway was built to a location one block west.
They maintained their home on Devonshire in Detroit until the time of Alberts death in 1958.
After his death and during the war Delia continued her employment as a stenographer at various plants engaged in the war effort, and after the war, continued to work as a comptometer operator for the Greyhound Bus Corp.
Delia died in 1985 of Cancer after a more or less short illness.
